Family Owned Since 1962
For more than 60 years, Country Maid has grown by staying focused on the values that have guided us from the beginning: quality, service, and hard work.
What started as an innovative way to get customers into the doors of Grebe’s 20+ Bakery Locations in the 1960’s, an era with no Supermarkets, only specialized neighborhood “mom-and-pop” shops, grew into a full-fledged food manufacturing business. Preparing salads that would go well with traditional Wisconsin hot ham and rolls sold out of Grebe’s Bakery, providing convenience that wasn’t commonly seen in the 1960’s, turned into preparing and selling salads to neighboring businesses. This family-owned business has grown as it has been passed on to each subsequent generation that has taken over. Now entering the fourth generation of family to own and operate Country Maid, each year we grow more invested and knowledgeable in the business of putting products made in our kitchen onto your table, all while still understanding and carrying out the dream that started on the back of one hard-working, cutting-edge woman in a business world heavily dominated by a male presence.
Although our products are distributed across the country, we continue to bring a family-owned approach to the way we do business. We value strong relationships with our customers and work hard to be a food manufacturing partner they can depend on.
Grebe’s Bakery was Founded by Irene Grebe 1st Generation. Irene then grew Grebe’s bakery into both Grebe’s bakery and Country Maid Catering. Irene’s two children both were able to take pride in growing one each of their mother’s businesses. Jim Grebe took over Grebe’s Bakery (son of Irene) and Jane Plotkin (Grebe) took over Country Maid Catering (daughter of Irene) 2nd generation. Jane then passed along Country Maid to her six children: Lorrie, Bill, Leesa, Cary, John and Jordan 3rd Generation. Of her six children, three are still alive and currently own Country Maid together. Jordan Plotkin, who is actively running the Company, has two daughters: Kathering Plotkin (Wolfe) and Ashley Plotkin, and is actively training one of his daughters, Ashley Plotkin, to continue on the family business for many years to come 4th Generation.

Country Maid also operates a food outlet in Milwaukee, giving local customers a convenient place to purchase fresh salads, sandwiches, lunch specials, party platters, and other prepared foods. It is another way we bring the same quality and care that goes into our food manufacturing directly to the people in our community.
